You order drinks at a restaurant, and while women sip through paper or glass straws, men frequently pull the straw out or drink directly from the rim. It seems like a strange, subtle aversion.
Small social mannerisms are heavily police by masculine norms. Sipping through a straw has been bizarrely gendered in popular culture as dainty or frivolous, leading many men to unconsciously drink directly from a glass to avoid appearing overly refined or delicate.
True confidence is enjoying your drink however you like without worrying about silent social judgment.
